Here is a list of mistakes women make with their online dating profiles:
Your Profile Headline: First off, you need to avoid profile headlines like this:
- Looking For My Prince Charming
- Are There Any Good Guys Left?
- Looking For A Real Man
- Liars Need Not Apply
- Looking For My Soul Mate
This puts a lot of pressure on a guy and we haven’t even said hello yet. It tells us you haven’t moved beyond the “fairy tale” expectations of relationships and you’re going to be difficult to please.
Your Attitude: Get rid of the chip on your shoulder.
We’ve all been hurt before, but don’t take it out on us. Your online dating profile is supposed to tell us a little about you, not slam us over the head with all the ways you’ve been wronged in the past. If you want a kind, respectful guy, you’ll get better results with some sugar of your own.
Your Ideal Man: Tell us something we don’t know.
These are things of which we are already aware and can be eliminated from your online dating profile:
- I love to laugh – Wow, really? Not many people out there like you.
- I want a guy who is honest – Liars and cheaters aren’t going to move on just because you wrote this.
- I love my kids and they are #1 - Actually, we would worry if they weren’t.
- I’m not looking for a booty call - Pretty sure if you were, you wouldn’t be scoping for winners randomly online.
Your ProfilePics: Please post at least one profile pic of JUST you.
If all of your pictures are of you in groups, we won’t be able to tell which girl is you. Also, posting pics of your kids freaks us out. We’re interested in you at the moment. We have to find out whether we like you or not before we think about them. We know it’s a package deal, but slow down a little bit.
We don’t need to see what your pets look like either. They aren’t coming on the date.
My finale advice: Don’t create your online dating profile according to what YOU would want to read. We’re men, and we think differently.
We’ll eventually find out all the important stuff, but let’s get to know each other a little before we start disappointing you.
